Friday morning, a plane crash near the Lubbock Executive Airpark claimed the life of one individual.

The pilot of a Textron Aviation-Beechcraft Barron 58P twin engine that fell less than a mile northwest of the Lubbock Executive Airpark was Tyler Blake Christie, 26 of Lavon.

According to a report from the Department of Public Safety, the collision happened precisely on County Road 2500 between East County Roads 7300 and 7200.

The early report states that the flight departed from Lubbock Executive Airpark at approximately 11:38 p.m. and crashed two minutes later. The pilot was unable to leave the burning airplane because it was too hot to do so.
